Main differences between traditional or gasoline motorcycles and electric motorcycles. Followed by the characteristics of how we manufacture shock absorbers for electric motorcycles.

The commitment to electric vehicles

At Betor Shock Absorbers, we are innovating more and more, this time we decided to take the step to venture into the world of electric motorcycles as manufacturers of rear suspension tailored to the needs of the customer and in order to promote and contribute conservation of the environment in some way.

Before moving on to the damping system, it is important to know what the main advantages of electric motorcycles are over conventional or gasoline ones:

Advantages of an electric motorcycle

  • It is friendly to the environment since it does not emit polluting gases and the batteries are recyclable
  • It is silent, contributing to the reduction of noise pollution
  • Less prone to breakdowns
  • Greater savings: Electric charging is much cheaper than refueling with gasoline.
  • Maintenance is cheaper since it does not require tune-ups or oil changes since is limited to brakes, tires, and bearings.
  • No fuel smell
  • Battery recharging is fast and most electric motorcycles have a removable battery, which makes it easy to charge anywhere, be it at home or the office.
  • Doesn't overheat
  • It does not need previous heating to be able to use it

Conclusion: The electric motorcycle is excellent in terms of economic savings over time and non-pollution of the environment. Although a traditional motorcycle pollutes less than a car, the electric motorcycle is the next step.
But like everything, it has its counterpart, so let's take a look at its weak points compared to a gasoline or traditional motorcycle.

Disadvantages of an electric motorcycle:

  • Although there is a potential saving in fuel, there is not when it comes to buying the motorcycle, since electric motorcycles are usually more expensive than conventional ones
  • It can be difficult to find electrical outlets in the street to recharge the battery, despite the fact that the number of electric vehicle charging stations has increased considerably in recent years
  • Over time, the battery loses its useful life in the long term.
    There are two types of batteries:
    - Lithium batteries, which are lighter, have no memory and are almost all removable.
    - Lead batteries have a longer average charge, not all of them are removable and they are much heavier.
  • Although electric motorcycles are silent, which helps reduce noise pollution, it can be a problem for pedestrians who do not hear an approaching vehicle.

Additional data

The units to measure power in internal combustion or gasoline engines are expressed in horsepower (HP), and horsepower (VP) while electric motors (Three-Phase DC motor (Direct Current)) are expressed universally in watts or watts (watts / W).
1HP= 745.7W
1CV: 735.5W

If we express it in terms of 1,000 Watts, it would be 1kW, so the comparison would be

1.34HP = 1kW
1.36CV = 1kW

On average, the power of electric motors today is between 800W to 8000W.
Once we have made this clear, we can move on to the topic that has brought you here—the cushioning.

Shock absorbers for electric motorcycles

At Betor Shock Absorbers, we manufacture shock absorbers for electric motorcycles with harder springs than normal, due to the weight of the batteries. We also manufacture them with a lower weight than the traditional ones to obtain greater driving autonomy.

Shock absorbers for the VECTRIX VX1

For the Vectrix VX1, we manufacture the shock absorbers in Duralumin in Gas and with spring preload with counter nut, with spring colors available in red and black. The measurement ranges from 330-340mm.
